Mother and Daughter Intimate Portraits is the second for my series “Parent and Child Intimacy” featuring a mom or dad together in an intimate bedroom setting. The concept is to focus on the bond between the parent and the child.
The mother here is Golf, a beautiful 28 year old Thai lady with her 2 year old daughter Jub Jub. This was shot on location at a hotel in Udon Thani, Thailand.
As with the last shoot with Carolina and Andres, it is amazing to me to see the expressions and exhibition of freedom when clothing and background distractions are removed from the equation. Since this shoot, I have worked with Jub Jub and her father for a Mad Max themed shoot in a junk yard. She is quite a character and the photos were really great!
I find lighting to be a bit tricky for these shoots. Most of my work is with natural light, so I am a bit inexperienced here. A lot of care is taken to find a hotel room with white ceiling, white walls, no distracting decorations, and only white accessories on the bed. I use several speedlights bounced from the ceiling and walls to create the high-key effect.
I consider this to be a combination between family and environmental portrait with a boudoir style.
